Aid the Silent helps deaf and hard-of-hearing children and teens in San Antonio and Texas gain greater access to communication, education, resources and community. The nonprofit assists children and teens from birth through age 22 while still in high school who have medically diagnosed hearing loss and demonstrated financial hardship. Aid the Silent provides financial assistance for communication resources such as hearing aids, FM systems, American Sign Language (ASL) lessons and speech therapy. They provide hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, custom ear molds and hearing aid programming. The organization supports families regardless of their preferred communication approach. They support individuals who use hearing aids, cochlear implants, sign language, lip reading or a combination of communication methods.
