Alamo Area Resource Center (AARC) provides healthcare, HIV services and community support in San Antonio and surrounding counties. Founded in 1990 to address the needs of people living with HIV/AIDS, AARC has grown into a leading LGBTQ+ health and social-service organization in the San Antonio area. AARC's Health Equity Clinic provides primary care, HIV specialty care, sexual health services and gender-affirming care in a compassionate and nonjudgmental environment.
AARC also offers free and discreet HIV and STI testing. Testing is available on-site, and HIV self-test kits are available as another testing option. AARC provides access to PrEP and PEP, medications used to prevent HIV infection for HIV-negative individuals. For people living with HIV, AARC provides HIV specialty healthcare and connections to additional services and resources. Its resource network covers areas including housing, support groups, mental health, medication assistance, substance-use/harm-reduction services, food and clothing, rent or mortgage assistance, utilities and pharmacy resources. Eligibility varies by program.
