Autism Community Network – Autism Diagnosis, Therapy & Family Support

Autism Community Network helps children with autism and developmental differences and their families in San Antonio and South Texas access early diagnosis, therapy, education and community support. Founded in 2008, ACN is a nonprofit organization created in response to the shortage of developmental services available to children suspected of having autism. Its mission is to maximize children's potential through early diagnosis while educating and empowering families and the community.

ACN provides autism-specific developmental screenings and medical diagnostic evaluations for young children. Its current diagnostic pathway accepts referrals for children from birth through approximately age 5½. Evaluations can be provided in person or through telehealth and in English or Spanish. Diagnostic teams may include specialists such as developmental-behavioral pediatricians, pediatric neurologists, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, behavior analysts and clinical social workers. ACN states that diagnostic appointments are completed within one day to make the process more convenient for families.

ACN also provides innovative neurodiversity-affirming therapies that emphasize the individual strengths and needs of the child and family. Programs include Pediatric Autism Communication Therapy (PACT) and sensory-focused, child-led and parent-mediated interventions.
