AWC Centers provides free pregnancy, sexual health and counseling services in San Antonio. Formerly known as Any Woman Can, the Christ-centered nonprofit serves people facing unplanned pregnancy, sexual-health concerns and mental-health challenges. All AWC services are free of charge, and clients are not required to provide insurance information. Services are confidential and are available through locations on Blanco Road and in downtown San Antonio.
AWC provides free lab-quality pregnancy testing and limited first-trimester obstetrical ultrasounds. Its ultrasounds are used to help establish pregnancy location, gestational age and the presence of a heartbeat; they are not intended as comprehensive diagnostic fetal exams. AWC also provides free STI testing. It tests and treats for gonorrhea and chlamydia and partners with San Antonio Metro Health for periodic testing that includes syphilis and HIV.
People facing a pregnancy decision can receive information about parenting, adoption and abortion. For accuracy, the page should clearly state that AWC does not perform or refer for abortions. Another major service is free professional individual counseling. Licensed counselors and associates provide confidential counseling to women and men dealing with situations such as unplanned pregnancy, miscarriage and pregnancy loss, postpartum depression, post-abortion concerns, sexual abuse or assault, and parenting a child under age three.
