The Bexar County Military and Veterans Services Center provides free assistance to veterans, transitioning service members, military spouses, dependents and survivors throughout Bexar County. Accredited and certified Veteran Service Officers help veterans identify and apply for VA benefits they may be entitled to receive. Services include assistance with VA disability claims, VA appeals, survivor benefits and other Veterans Affairs benefits. The Center continues to assist veterans and their families as their claims move through the VA process.
Veterans who need help filing a new disability claim, increasing an existing disability rating or appealing a VA decision can schedule an appointment for personalized claims assistance. The Center also helps transitioning service members and veterans prepare for civilian employment through career guidance, employment readiness, job search assistance, education and training opportunities, workshops and connections with employers and community resources.
Additional outreach is provided to veterans who are homebound, experiencing homelessness or incarcerated, as well as veterans living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. All Bexar County Department of Military and Veterans Services services are free. Appointments are required for services at the Military and Veterans Services Center.
