Bluebird’s Hope is dedicated to providing forensic nursing examinations to individuals who have experienced sexual assault, strangulation, domestic violence, and/or human trafficking. Shockingly, statistics show that, on average, someone in the United States experiences sexual assault approximately every 68 seconds. In Texas, 2 in 5 women and 1 in 5 men have been victims of sexual assault. The repercussions of sexual assault are profound, often resulting in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), an increase of suicidal thoughts, and a heightened susceptibility to substance abuse.
