The 14-week Bridges To Life program is conducted primarily in prisons and facilitated by volunteers who may also be victims of crime. Many prison programs address the rehabilitation of inmates, but Bridges To Life is the only curriculum-based program that utilizes a unique victim impact approach.
When crime victims tell their stories in our program, offenders come to realize the profoundly damaging and far-reaching effects of crime. This process sparks empathy, remorse and compassion, creating a spiritual foundation for lasting change and a healing journey for both victim and offender alike.
Recidivism studies of BTL graduates compiled with the assistance of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice reveal that 89% of BTL graduates did not return to prison within three years after release! Because less crime means fewer crime victims, BTL is positively impacting communities. The work of Bridges To Life is led by 5 Management staff, along with 15 Regional Coordinators who implement the BTL program in prisons and alternative facilities throughout Texas.
