House of Neighborly Service (HNS) is a nonprofit organization that has served families, children, and older adults on San Antonio’s Westside for more than 100 years. HNS provides programs designed to encourage, educate, and empower residents while strengthening families and improving quality of life throughout the community. Child and Family Wellness services help parents and children strengthen relationships and address social, emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs. Services can include family support, parenting education, developmental assistance, mental health resources, and connections to other community services.

They provide play therapy and child-focused wellness services. Through developmentally appropriate therapeutic activities, children can receive support addressing emotional, behavioral, and family challenges in a safe and supportive environment. Kid’s Place Child Development Center provides early childhood education and developmental support for young children. The program focuses on school readiness while helping children strengthen their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.

They help seniors remain healthy, active, socially connected, and independent. Adults age 60 and older can participate in wellness activities and receive nutritious home-cooked meals. Meals are available on-site or curbside pickup after completing an intake. Home-delivered meals are also available for qualifying older adults with serious health conditions who live in the 78207 ZIP code and are unable to leave their homes. Community Health Workers help older adults and families navigate additional needs and connect with community resources. Assistance can include referrals, case management, advocacy, and help identifying programs related to housing, healthcare, food, and other needs affecting household stability.
