Institute for Trauma-Informed Care

The Institute for Trauma-Informed Care at University Health provides training, education, technical assistance, and community awareness to help organizations and individuals better understand trauma and use trauma-informed practices throughout San Antonio and Bexar County. The Institute works with community organizations, businesses, healthcare providers, educators, nonprofits, and other sectors to increase awareness of trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), resilience, and trauma-informed care.


Training opportunities include Introduction to Trauma-Informed Care, Building Community Resilience, Creating a Thriving Community, Discovering We Are Resilient, and other trauma-related educational programs. Training may be available virtually or in person. Organizations interested in becoming more trauma-informed can also receive assessment, training, technical assistance, and coaching. The Institute supports organizations working toward trauma-informed care certification and promotes trauma-informed best practices across community sectors.
