NPower covers a wide range of industry-recognized technology certifications, including CompTIA Tech+ and A+. CompTIA is the governing body for many foundational IT certifications and is highly valued by employers seeking skilled entry-level talent. Because of this demand, the majority of jobs NPower graduates secure are IT-related roles.

In addition to CompTIA training, NPower offers Google IT and Adobe certifications through Coursera. Students can select the courses that interest them most, and NPower covers all expenses—there are no out-of-pocket costs for training or certification exams. NPower’s Tech+ and A+ courses are taught directly by NPower instructors using a curriculum built around NPower’s own textbook, see curriculum.

Students work closely with NPower’s dedicated career placement managers. They guide students from enrollment to employment by providing job-search support and connecting students with employer partners who reach out when they have hiring needs. Most NPower graduates secure salaries between $40,000 and $75,000. NPower serves 60+ students per cohort and trains between 120 and 150 individuals annually across two cohorts: one in the Spring and one in the Fall. After graduation, 80% of students find employment within six months.

While most participants live in Bexar County, NPower serves students across a 200-mile radius, including Austin, Killeen, Houston, and Corpus Christi. The program receives both public and private funding and is a designated San Antonio Ready to Work training provider. During its first two years, NPower was funded by USAA to launch locally and continues to receive statewide support from organizations such as the Texas Veterans Commission. National partnerships also help ensure investment reaches all NPower locations across the country.

NPower’s mission is to ensure every graduate is fully prepared to enter the workforce with both technical abilities and professional confidence. NPower Tech Instruction & Job Placement 

Established 2001 as a nonprofit, Npower assisted other organizations with their IT support needs. In 2010, NPower focused exclusively on tech instruction and job placement for vulnerable young adults and military veterans.

Today, they have operations in (California, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia). In the past 13 years, they provided IT training, wraparound support services, and job placement/career advancement to 9,000+ low-income young adults (18-26) and military-connected individuals from underserved urban communities across the US. 

NPower teaches two 20-week, 4-hour a day virtual instructor led training classes with morning and afternoon sessions. They provide social services throughout and career placement assistance.

NPower started in San Antonio in March 2023, providing free classes where students can earn industry recognized certifications such as Google IT Support, Google Project Management, CompTIA A+, and CompTIA ITF+. Also, NPower pays for students to take their certification exams. Their professional development classes are taught virtually with four in-person and classes include resume writing, interview preparation, salary negation, how to transition into the IT field, or even help transitioning from the military to the civilian workforce. And for young adults starting in the structured workplace, NPower teaches students about having supervisors and other soft skills.

NPower has mock interview events where business recruiters, HR and IT professionals, put their students through mock interviews. This prepares their students to go on actuals interviews, so they know how to dress, how to answer basic questions, and more. In San Antonio, they helped over 150 students start a new career in technology. Some of their graduates went to work for Microsoft, Task Us, Accenture Federal Services (IT Government Contract), Goodwill San Antonio, San Antonio Hope Center, Break Point Labs, and Northside Independent School District.
