Pre-K 4 SA provides high-quality early childhood education for 3- and 4-year-old children in San Antonio. Eligible families can receive free full-day Pre-K, while tuition assistance and scholarship opportunities are available for families who do not qualify for free Pre-K under Texas Education Agency guidelines. Children must turn 3 or 4 years old by September 1 of the school year to meet the program's age requirement. Free Pre-K eligibility may be available based on household income or participation in qualifying assistance programs, limited English proficiency, homelessness, foster care history, qualifying military service or other Texas eligibility requirements.
Pre-K 4 SA provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences that help children build early literacy, language, math, problem-solving, social-emotional and critical-thinking skills while preparing them for kindergarten and future academic success. The program also supports the entire family. Family engagement services include parent workshops, child development and early literacy education, health and wellness information, adult education resources, family learning activities, employment and education resources, and assistance transitioning children into kindergarten.
Additional services include meals, transportation between designated bus depots and Education Centers, and a free Extended Day Program from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. for qualifying families who are working or attending school. Pre-K 4 SA operates Education Centers in San Antonio and partners with participating public school districts. Families can apply online or contact an enrollment specialist to determine whether their child qualifies for free Pre-K, tuition assistance or scholarship opportunities.
