Stop the Cycle Education – Addiction Recovery, Counseling & Court Classes

Stop the Cycle Education is a San Antonio nonprofit helping people break cycles of addiction, substance use and other behaviors that interfere with stability and recovery. Services include addiction counseling, case management, peer recovery support, mentorship, court-mandated DWI and drug-offender education, drug and alcohol assessments, theft-prevention and anger-management education, job training and connections to employers. The organization focuses on giving people a “hand up” by connecting them with practical resources that support long-term change.

  • DWI Education

This is a 12 hour class per State requirements for individuals who have received a DWI. The program is designed to help DWI offenders increase their knowledge of alcohol and how it relates to driving, to identify their own drinking use and driving patterns, and to assist them in developing plans which will reduce the probability of future DWI behavior.

  • Drug Offender Education

This is a 15 hour class required of probation for those who have a drug related charge. The program will increase the knowledge of drug offenders by educating them on the dangers of abuse and its illegal activities, to identify individual drug-use, and to assist them in developing a plan to reduce the probability of future drug use and illegal behavior.

  • Theft Prevention

This is a 4 hour class Required by probation for those with theft related charges. The program is for anyone who has been court-ordered to take a theft, shoplifting, larceny, or theft awareness class. The class is interesting and presented in a way that actually makes the experience enjoyable. The class allows you to meet your court, legal, or personal requirements, without losing time away from work, home or other life commitments.

  • Victim Impact Panel (LIVE)

Hear first hand from individuals who have been affected by DWI accidents. The Victim Impact Panel is presented by someone who has been personally affected by a DWI. The presentation will include a personal testimony on the tragic consequences of DWIs. The program is designed to increase the awareness of participants by educating them on the impact of alcohol and/or drugs on others and themselves.

  • Drug & Alcohol Assessment

Get screened for appropriate treatment and referrals. A drug or alcohol assessment (also called an alcohol or substance abuse evaluation) is made up of screening, assessment, follow-up, and referral services. Screening involves screening clients to determine if addiction or co-occurring disorders are present. Screening often involves a set of basic yes or no questions.

  • Anger Management

Constant stress or worrying about matters you cannot control can lead to hopelessness and anger. Studies show 20% of the U.S. suffer from an anger management issue. If you’re living with anger, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Anger management provides knowledge and support from people with similar experiences.

  • Individual Counseling Session

Work with a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) who will provide a tailored treatment plan. This is a judgement free therapeutic situation where the individual talks one-on-one with a alcohol and drug counselor. Unlike getting advice from friends or family, we are certified professionals who have received formal training and are licensed by the state to practice individual counseling.
