Ashley Green, RN, BSN, IBCLC and Veronica Simpkins, RN, MSN, IBCLC, WHNP met while working on the postpartum floor of a hospital. They shared a passion for helping new mothers navigate the complexities of breastfeeding and postpartum care. In 2017, they created the nonprofit,
Latched Support. They often heard mothers express a need for continued care in their home. While visiting new mothers at home, they found many households revealed dangerous situations—mothers bleeding or experiencing high blood pressure without realizing it.
Recognizing the need for critical care, they launched their Pregnancy & Parenting Program. This ensured mothers receive proper postpartum care. They offered diapers, wipes, food, and hygiene products, alleviating some burdens that can overwhelm new parents. Their holistic approach covers maternal and infant health from prenatal care to breastfeeding, safe sleep practices, infant CPR, childbirth readiness, and postpartum care. In 2023, Latched Support served 3,782 pregnant women.
